With over half the state’s population, New Castle County in northern Delaware embodies a unique culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and heritage dating back to the founding of the DuPont Company in the early 1800s.

Leading academic institutions in New Castle County support the development of a well-rounded and skilled workforce, with six colleges and universities in the county and over 150 higher education institutions, including colleges, universities, and technical and vocational schools, within a two-hour drive.
Additionally, the Delaware Pathways program connects students, communities, and employers through high-quality career pathways starting in secondary school. By encouraging students to acquire both academic and technical skills as well as on-the-job training, Delaware Pathways supports the development of well-qualified students ready to enter the workforce. The New Castle County Vocation Technical School District also offers comprehensive training in 38 different career programs at four institutions, partnering with over 400 businesses in the county.
